Going out, Smoking & Alcohol - Survey

Our aim

Our aim in this survey was to find out the differences between teenagers in Germany, Wales and Slovakia due to free time activities. We divided the topic into 3 parts: going out, smoking and alcohol. Every question is followed by a diagram and a brief analyse.

Do you go out in you free time?

The diagram above indicates the percentage of teenagers in Slovakia, Germany and Wales, who go out in their free time. As we can see the results are nearly the same in all three countries. However, the rate of students who don't go out is highest in Germany.

Where do you usually go to?

As shown in the diagram above, Germany and Wales have the highest rate of teenagers who go out to discos, pubs and clubs. That can be seen in a contrast to Slovakia, where most people prefer going out to cottages, meeting with friends or having a walk in a park. The percentage of people going to cinemas and theatres is generally quite low, however it is highest in Wales.

Do you smoke?

As the diagram shows most students in all three countries do not smoke. However in Wales the rate is the lowest and Germany has the highest of the three.

At what age did you start smoking?

As the graph shows the age students start smoking is really different. In Slovakia and Germany most students start smoking under 16; however, in Wales they start smoking between 16 and 18. The German and Wales students either start under 16 or between 16 and 18, in Slovakia there are also a few students start over 18.

How much do you spend for cigarettes?

As the graph shows the cigarettes' prices are different in the three countries. That's why students also spend a different amount of money for cigarettes. Slovakians generally spend the lowest amount of money and Welsh spend the highest amount of money. Germans are between them and spend between three and five Euro for cigarettes.

When did you start drinking?

The diagram shows the percentage of teenagers who started drinking alcohol due to age. The results are however very diversified, in Germany and Wales most teenagers started drinking alcohol at the age under 16, compared to Slovakia where most students started between 16 and 18. The rate of students started drinking over 18 is in all countries quiet low. In Wales and Slovakia the drinking age is 18, in Germany you are allowed to drink with 16.

How much money do you spend on alcohol a month?

Obviously Slovakian student spend the lowest amount of money for alcohol and Welsh students the most. In Germany students normally spend less than 25€ for alcohol, just a few spend more.
